What I do

Recording

Basics and overdubs at Sharkbite in Oakland, or a full rig brought to a house, a barn, or wherever the record wants to be made.

$500 a day, plus $300 for the room at Sharkbite. Remote sessions $1,200 a day.

Mixing

Stereo, Atmos, or both out of one session. For records that need to sound like themselves in every format.

Stereo $550 a track, stereo and Atmos together $800, paid on delivery. Net 60 adds 25%.

Mastering

Stereo mastering with a fast turnaround if the mix is done. Atmos mastering for artists, and for mixers who need a finishing engineer.

Stereo $100 a track, Atmos $200, paid on delivery. Net 60 adds 25%.

A note on budgeting your time

  1. It always takes longer than anyone thinks it will.
  2. Don't try to cram too much into a day. Quality suffers.
  3. If you practice or play live occasionally, three songs a day should be the max.
  4. If you tour and practice constantly, maybe five if you're lucky.
  5. Write down what you want to accomplish so budget and time don't disappear to poor planning.
